Follow-up Care

Once the treatment for tracheal cancer is completed, the patients are provided with a follow-up care plan at the time of discharge. A follow-up visit is important as it helps the oncologist to completely evaluate the patient’s health for early diagnosis of cancer recurrence. Further, the long-term side effects of cancer treatments are also evaluated and managed during the follow-up visit. The survivors should not ignore any of the new symptoms and immediately consult with their cancer specialist. The survivors may expect pulmonary function tests, imaging tests, such as chest X-rays and MRIs, blood tests, and bronchoscopy during the follow-up visit.
