Dr. Sowmya Dayyala is one of the best Surgical Oncologists in Hyderabad with expertise in the diagnosis and surgical management of a wide range of cancers. She is dedicated to providing evidence-based, patient-centric cancer care with a strong focus on achieving optimal clinical outcomes while ensuring compassion, guidance, and support throughout every stage of the patient’s treatment journey. She is currently serving as Consultant – Surgical Oncology at American Oncology Institute (AOI) and Citizens Specialty Hospital, Hyderabad.

Dr. Sowmya completed her M.Ch. in Surgical Oncology from the prestigious Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology, Bengaluru, after completing her M.S. in General Surgery and MBBS from Alluri Sitarama Raju Academy of Medical Sciences, Eluru. Her areas of clinical expertise include the surgical management of gastrointestinal cancers, breast cancer, head and neck cancers, hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) cancers, thoracic cancers, gynecological cancers, urological cancers, and soft tissue tumors.

She has extensive experience in performing and assisting complex oncological procedures, including breast cancer surgeries, head and neck cancer resections, gastrointestinal cancer surgeries, and soft tissue sarcoma resections. Her approach focuses on precision-driven surgical care, multidisciplinary treatment planning, and improving patient outcomes.

Dr. Sowmya has completed a Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery (FMAS) and Diploma in Minimal Access Surgery (DMAS), along with specialized training in robotic surgery and gastrointestinal endoscopy. She has also completed an international observership in colorectal surgery at Stanford University, USA, gaining exposure to advanced minimally invasive and robotic oncologic procedures, multidisciplinary cancer management, and global best practices in surgical oncology.

Beyond her clinical practice, Dr. Sowmya actively contributes to cancer research through publications in peer-reviewed journals and is involved in academic teaching, surgical education, and multidisciplinary tumor board discussions. She is a member of reputed professional organizations, including the Association of Surgeons of India (ASI), Indian Association of Surgical Oncology (IASO), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and World Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons (WALS).

Her key areas of interest include minimally invasive cancer surgery, robotic oncology procedures, gastrointestinal oncology, colorectal surgery, and pelvic oncology, with a commitment to delivering comprehensive and personalized cancer care.
