Stomach Cancer

The stomach contains several types of cells. When the genetic information in the DNA related to cell division is altered (mutation) in any of the stomach cell types, the cells divide and grow uncontrollably, forming an abnormal mass of cells known as a tumor. The condition is known as stomach cancer or gastric cancer. The treatment strategy for stomach cancer depends on the cancer site and stage and the types of cells affected by cancer.
