Neuroendocrine tumors, often called NETs, are a rare type of growth that can be challenging to understand. These tumors begin in specialized neuroendocrine cells, which have traits of both nerve cells and hormone-producing endocrine cells. Because these cells are found throughout the body, NETs can develop in many different locations, each with unique characteristics.
