For many people exploring lung cancer treatment in India, surgery is central to curing early and some locally advanced stages of disease. Operations remove the tumor-bearing portion of lung and thoroughly sample or dissect lymph nodes to stage the cancer and guide any additional therapy. Today, three main surgical approaches are used across leading centers: open thoracotomy, video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS), and robotic-assisted thoracic surgery (RATS). Each has a place, and the right choice depends on tumor stage and location, prior treatments, and overall fitness of the patient.
