Cancer is one of the most talked-about health conditions in the world, and with that attention comes countless myths, half-truths, and confusing advice. One of the most common claims people hear after a cancer diagnosis is: “Stop eating sugar because sugar feeds cancer cells.” This statement often spreads through social media, blogs, videos, and even word-of-mouth conversations among family and friends.
While this myth may sound believable at first, the truth is far more complex. Cancer cells do use glucose (a form of sugar) for energy, but so do every other healthy cell in the human body. Simply eating sugar does not directly “feed” cancer in the way many people imagine.
