Hisar, June 18, 2024 – American Oncology Institute (AOI) in Hisar has successfully treated a advanced case of carcinoma of cervix. The patient was diagnosed with cervical cancer invading the lower uterine segment and the upper third of the vagina with para-aortic lymphadenopathy stage IIIC2, she received comprehensive cancer care under the expertise of Dr Mohal Lal and the dedicated oncology team at AOI Hisar.
The treatment plan involved concurrent chemoradiation with advanced radiotherapy technique Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) and chemotherapy. She received radiation with simultaneous integrated boost (SIB) technique, combined with five cycles of weekly chemotherapy followed by four sessions of intra cavitry brachytherapy (ICBT), ensuring precise targeting of the tumor while sparing healthy tissue.

We used a simultaneous integrated boost (SIB) to deliver a higher radiation dose directly to the tumor while sparing surrounding healthy tissue. This was paired with five cycles of chemotherapy to enhance the effectiveness of the treatment. Following this, the patient underwent four sessions of brachytherapy, which involves placing a radioactive source directly into the tumor with computer based treatment planning system. This comprehensive treatment course ensures maximum impact on the cancer cells while minimizing side effects to surrounding structures, significantly improving the patient's prognosis and quality of life."
