American Oncology Institute (AOI), South Asia’s leading chain of cancer hospitals launches its 12th state-of-the-art oncology facility at and in collaboration with Baby Memorial Hospital to set new benchmark in Cancer Care for the patients of Kerala.
India has reported over 15 lakhs new cancer cases per year and this number is expected to be around 20 lakhs by 2020. Sadly, more than 70% of these cases are reported in advanced stages, leading to poor survival rates.
The highest number of cancer cases in India is detected from Kerala, followed by Mizoram, Haryana, Delhi and Karnataka, while it is the lowest in Bihar. In 2016, cancer incidence rate in India was 106.6 per 1 lakh people, while in Kerala it is 135.3 per 1 lakh people. Even mortality and disability rates due to cancer are high in the southern state, a new study shows.
AOI along with BMH will provide complete cancer care services including advanced diagnostic techniques for cancer, latest staging and treatment modalities including Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology and Nuclear Medicine (PET CT), based on the international treatment guidelines in cancer care. The Cancer Super Speciality hospital will enable the population of Kerala and adjoining states get access to the best and most advanced cancer diagnostics and treatment at affordable cost.
