Risk factors of Hodgkin’s lymphoma include:

  • A family history of lymphoma:Having a close family member who has Hodgkin’s lymphoma or non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma may put one at the risk of developing the disease
  • Past Epstein-Barr infection: People with illnesses caused by the Epstein-Barr virus are more likely to develop Hodgkin’s lymphoma
  • Age and sex: Hodgkin’s lymphoma is often diagnosed in people in the age group of 15 to 30 and those older than 55, also males are slightly more likely to develop Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
